The Downbeat 6.21.09

Greetings and hallucinations to everyone!

God manifested Himself in a very powerful way today, not only in the music but in the sermon as well.  Dr. Barry Roberts preached on “7 Curses”.   It will be posted on http://www.etpalestine.com by Wednesday.  Make sure you check it out.

Don’t forget to go to Fred’s site and check out what God did in other churches and what other worship leaders did for their sets.

Walk In:

Burn For You – Fee

This is the second week in a row we have played this one since it is new to our congregation.  During practice Darren got choked up with the words.  God was super powerful today in praise and worship.

You Reign – Mercy Me

Another song that I get to use the U2-ish dotted eighth note delay.  It’s a little different than how Mercy Me plays it since we only have 1 electric player.  Actually, everything we play sounds more like us than it does any of the bands’ music we tend to listen to.

Highest – Hillsong

Danna gets to lead out on this one.  That low C note seems to go on forever.  It was kicking in the subs today! I get to play 2 solos on this one.  The first solo out of D dorian, the second one based on D minor pentatonic and A minor Pentatonic  and to finish up on G mixolydian. (for you electric players out there!)

Prayer/Offertory

Sweetly Broken – Jeremy Riddle

Nothing But the Blood – Matt Redman

Message: Dr. Barry Roberts – “7 Curses”

Altar:

Word of God Speak – MercyMe

Hungry – Kathryn Scott

We had a really wonderful time today.  We hope God did some amazing things in your church too.  See ya!

  1. This is your drummer…they’re some BIG words in this post…I’m a guitar player and never heard those terms…guess that’s why I play the drums huh? As far as the Low C note, that was requested by our music director…lol…good job today on intricate guitar playing…I used big word!!!!!!

    • You’ll get over it! Does “big word” mean anything with more than 3 syllables?

  2. Great song choices Brad. Sounds like a worship service I would love to be a part of.
