Here’s the list from today:

Metro Gnome Chronicles 10.11.09
October 11, 2009

Welcome to the blog, all you Facebooker’s and Tweeter’s!  Glad to have you along for my little Sunday afternoon worship recap.  Today was a little different as we have started  “dry runs” on recording the music portions of our worship services.  Hopefully soon I’ll be able to share snippets of those services with you.

Fred’s website has what other churches around the world did this Sunday as well.  Check that out here:  http://www.fredmckinnon.com/myblog/2009/10/11/sunday-setlists-64/

Now…the moment you’ve all been waiting for……the set list:

Walk In:

For Who You Are – Hillsong

Today was the day to play in the key of B, I guess.  It’s been a little while since we’ve played this one.  This one is much different from the original recording.  We tweeked it to our influences, which are Toto, Journey, Rush and a slew of other bands too.

Bless His Name – Jeremy Riddle

Great tune!  The church really likes this one and they were hungry for a touch from our King today.  It’s always exciting to have a service like this one was.

I Will Rise/Jesus Messiah Chorus only (Medley) – Chris Tomlin

The last time we medley’d these two together was Easter of this year.

Prayer/offertory

Sweetly Broken – Jeremy Riddle

This one is fun for us! Towards the end of the song we go into the “Whoa whoa” part of Journey’s “Faithfully”.  We’ve always said if someone could find a way to make Journey’s music worship, people would worship to it.  We were right!

While I’m Waiting – John Waller

I fell in love with this song the instant I heard it on “Fireproof” while I watched it with my wife.  It’s a rocking song with a great message.

Message: Dr. Barry Roberts

Altar:

I Can Only Imagine – MercyMe

I believe the last time we played this one was at a funeral 2 years ago.  It was funny because for Saturday service we were playing Amazed by Lincoln Brewster.  That one just morphed into this one.  So we added it to the set list this morning.

Dismissal:

Amazed – Lincoln Brewster

See ya next week,

BRAD

Today at Evangelistic Temple in Palestine, TX:

Hey everyone!

Thanks for tuning in to see what God did today with our congregation.  You have more worship leader’s sites to look at so I won’t keep you long.  You can see them here: http://www.fredmckinnon.com. Today we had 4 baptisms and from what I could tell at altar time, God is moving in a powerful way.  Lots of people were praying down front, some were crying with others.  It was a beautiful time watching God move on the hearts of our congregation.

Band:

Darren Goodman – vocals

Cavin Dorsey – Bass/Music Director

Jason Stringfield – Drums

Danna Hafner – Keys/Bgvls

Vicki Stringfield – Keys

Johnie Adams – Acoustic/Lead vocals on

Terry Garner – Acoustic

Brad Hafner – Electric

Walk In:  Glory Defined – Building 429

This was the first time doing this one in church.  We have been introducing a lot of new songs to our church lately.  3 in the last 2 weeks.  I think they were ready for the new songs.  Some of the songs we had been doing for a while.  If nothing else it is refreshing as a praise team to do new stuff.  What do you think?

Beautiful the Blood – Fee

For This Cause – Hillsong

We’ve don this one before, but it sure has been a long time.  Great song!

Prayer/Offertory

Lift High – Fee

Sweetly Broken – Jeremy Riddle

Ever had one of those Sundays where everything is just kicking?  That is what happened today at Evangelistic Temple, but it started last weekend and continued into this one.  There were 10 baptisms this morning!  What a testament to what God is doing here in our church.

I’m excited to say that this blog is a small part of Fred’s Sunday Setlist blog over at his website www.fredmckinnon.com

The Players:

Darren Goodman – lead vocals

Cavin Dorsey – Bass/music director

Jason Stringfield – Drums

Danna Hafner – Keys/bgvls

Vicki Stringfield – keys

Terry Garner – Acoustic

Brad Hafner – Electric Guitar

Walk In: Bless Your Name – Jeremy Riddle

Pastor’s Greeting

Everlasting God – Brenton Brown

Mighty to Save – Laura Story (We played the Michael W. Smith version)

Today was the first time that we played this one for our congregation.  It was received very well.  In fact this is the first of 2 new songs that we introduced today.

Prayer/Offertory

Testimony: Glenna Kenner

It’s so cool when God uses something like praise team rehearsal to answer prayers.  That was the case earlier in the week with this next song.  Glenna had been listening to this song for a while in her car and praying about a new ministry that God put on her heart.  God has been more quiet to her as of late and then she heard us practicing this last Tuesday night.

While I’m Waiting – John Waller (from the Fireproof soundtrack)

Message:  Dr. Barry Roberts – “Engaging our Culture” Part 1

Barry delivered a great message.  If you want to hear it go to www.etpalestine.com and click on sermon connect.

Altar:

In Need – Ross King

Here I Am To Worship – Tim Hughes

There was at least another salvation declared today at the end of the service.  Sometimes it is hard to hear with the in ear monitors.

Thanks for tuning in to the blog.  Leave me a comment if you wish.  You can also find me on Facebook (bradhafnersfa) or on twitter (fit2praise).

Greetings from a very hot Palestine, Texas.  It’s like 104 degrees outside right now, but in church God brought a refreshing wind to us.  As always this is a part of Sunday Setlists over at Fred’s site, www.fredmckinnon.com Evangelistic Temple now has a twitter account, www.twitter.com/etpalestine so follow them and you’ll see more what goes on in our church.

Here is the setlist:

Prayer/Offertory

I Will Rise/Jesus Messiah (Yes, a medley!)- Chris Tomlin

This is the last Sunday that our main worship team is going to play until August.  The C-Team, (which is a misnomer) they just happen to be the last team put together, is taking over July.  The main team has been non-stop for the last 6 years just about every Sunday.  So the break is much needed.  We should come back with an intense focus and drive to see our God’s will be done in a mighty way.  We aren’t staying idle with music though.  July 7th we go to the studio to record. Pray for us.

See ya soon,

BRAD

Hello friends!

It’s that time again.  Sunday Setlists is now in it’s 4oth- something week of going on now.  That is just crazy!  I think I have missed 1 out of the last 30 or so.  Make sure to check out what everyone did at www.fredmckinnon.com, especially if you’re looking to introduce new songs to your congregation for praise and worship.  It’s a great resource.

This week is the first week of the “Life Unchained” series of sermons in June by Dr. Barry Roberts.  If you missed last weeks sermon entitled “It’s not for everyone” by Jason Harris.  Listen to it here: http://www.etpalestine.com/podcast.html It is a message that the entire church needs t hear.  Very powerful about how our American culture has snuck into and changed what the Bible actually says.

Alright, alright!  Here is the setlist from today:

Walk-In Burn for You – Fee

This was the first time we played this one for our congregation.  They seem to like it.  Obviously U2 influenced!  The first couple of listens to it and I was thinking “Where the Streets Have No Name” and the chorus to “I Will Follow” also could be sung as background vocals in there.  Great tune and a lot of fun to play if you’re an electric player with the dotted eighth note delay going.

Revival – Robin Mark

It has been a long time since we’ve done this one.  It’s at 140 bpm at 10 minutes long and poor Jason is keeping up with Metro Gnome pretty well but being worn down pretty quickly!  Sidenote here.  If your band isn’t playing with a metronome, it’s a great idea to start.  We attended the East Coast Worship Conference last June and Michael W. Smith’s drummer taught a class.  He said, “I will not play a single beat without a metronome in my in ears!”  That guy’s a big time pro and plays with one!  Oh yeah, and it’s made our drummer better!

You Are Enough – Eoghan Heaslip

Prayer/Offertory

Hear Us From Heaven – Jared Anderson

Yearn – Shane and Shane

Message – Dr. Barry Roberts “Life Unchained”

Altar:

Revelation Song – Kari Jobe

Thanks for dropping in and checking out what we do.  May God continue to bless your efforts at your church.

Keep the Son in your eyes,

BRAD

die Band:

Darren Goodman – Lead Sängers

Cavin Dorsey – Bassist/Musik Direktor

Drew Roberts – Percussionisten

Jason Stringfield – Der Trommler

Danna Hafner – Keyboarder/Hintergrund Sängerin

Vicki Stringfield – Keyboarder

Terry Garner – akustischer gitarrist

Johnie Adams – akustischer gitarrist/ Lead Sängers on “You Are Enough” and “Hear Us From Heaven”

Greetings to everyone!

Sorry we missed out of Sunday Setlists last week.  The praise team had the week off.  But we were back in full force today at Evangelistic Temple in Palestine, TX.  There was an amazing message given by our senior high youth pastor, Jason Harris.  It was a hard but good.  Anyone else have someone tell it like it is in church?

Alright, to the setlist:

Walk In: Hosanna – Paul Baloche (We did the PK7 version)

Jesus Messiah – Chris Tomlin

Sweetly Broken – Jeremy Riddle

This is a new one for us.  The C-team got to be the ones that debuted this last week to our congregation.  I heard that they did a great job.  Way to go C-team.  We love this song.  In fact it’s still in my head even as I type this.

Prayer/Offertory

Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone) – Chris Tomlin

Hallelujah – Ben Cantalon

This one has really been anthemic recently.  Today, lots of people came forward as it began, just to stand in the front of the platform with their hands in the air.  I had to play the guitar, otherwise my hands would have been in the air too.

Message: Jason Harris

Altar/Communion

The Wonderful Cross – Michael W. Smith

There you have it.  Thanks for stopping by.  As always, you can go to www.fredmckinnon.com and check out what other worship pastors and churches did for their Sunday Setlist too.

Band

Darren Goodman – vocals

Cavin Dorsey – Bass/Musical Director

Jason Stringfield – drums

Danna Hafner – Keys/bgvls

Vicki Stringfield – Keys

Lift High – Fee

Prayer Offertory

Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone) – Tomlin

Grace Will Be My Song – Fee

Message: Dr. Barry Roberts “Take out the trash!” Part 4 of “Marriage Madness”

Altar:  Through  It All – Rueben, Morgan

Let My Heart Be Holy Ground –  John Moser

Closing: Though It All

It was a really great time  in the Lord today.  An awesome testimony was given that demonstrated what freedom feels like after the chains life ties you down with are broken.  Just inspiring!  You will be able to listen to the sermon at www.etpalestine.com before the week is over.  I want to encourage you to check it out.

Both of our acoustic guitar players were not able to make the services today.  Terry, specifically, had knee surgery on Friday and is unable to stand for long periods of time.  Please pray for him.  So the worship team, as far as musicians go, was  all Passage North.  I got to cover both electric and acoustic parts at the same time. This is why I have an electric guitar that will do that sort of thing.

By the way, you can see what other worship leaders did in their church today over at Fred’s site. www.fredmckinnon.com
