Welcome to the blog, all you Facebooker’s and Tweeter’s!  Glad to have you along for my little Sunday afternoon worship recap.  Today was a little different as we have started  “dry runs” on recording the music portions of our worship services.  Hopefully soon I’ll be able to share snippets of those services with you.

Fred’s website has what other churches around the world did this Sunday as well.  Check that out here:  http://www.fredmckinnon.com/myblog/2009/10/11/sunday-setlists-64/

Now…the moment you’ve all been waiting for……the set list:

Walk In:

For Who You Are – Hillsong

Today was the day to play in the key of B, I guess.  It’s been a little while since we’ve played this one.  This one is much different from the original recording.  We tweeked it to our influences, which are Toto, Journey, Rush and a slew of other bands too.

Bless His Name – Jeremy Riddle

Great tune!  The church really likes this one and they were hungry for a touch from our King today.  It’s always exciting to have a service like this one was.

I Will Rise/Jesus Messiah Chorus only (Medley) – Chris Tomlin

The last time we medley’d these two together was Easter of this year.

Prayer/offertory

Sweetly Broken – Jeremy Riddle

This one is fun for us! Towards the end of the song we go into the “Whoa whoa” part of Journey’s “Faithfully”.  We’ve always said if someone could find a way to make Journey’s music worship, people would worship to it.  We were right!

While I’m Waiting – John Waller

I fell in love with this song the instant I heard it on “Fireproof” while I watched it with my wife.  It’s a rocking song with a great message.

Message: Dr. Barry Roberts

Altar:

I Can Only Imagine – MercyMe

I believe the last time we played this one was at a funeral 2 years ago.  It was funny because for Saturday service we were playing Amazed by Lincoln Brewster.  That one just morphed into this one.  So we added it to the set list this morning.

Dismissal:

Amazed – Lincoln Brewster

See ya next week,

BRAD

Greetings from a very hot Palestine, Texas.  It’s like 104 degrees outside right now, but in church God brought a refreshing wind to us.  As always this is a part of Sunday Setlists over at Fred’s site, www.fredmckinnon.com Evangelistic Temple now has a twitter account, www.twitter.com/etpalestine so follow them and you’ll see more what goes on in our church.

Here is the setlist:

Walk In:  Burn For You -Fee

This is probably the last week we do this one for a while since we have done it for the last 3 weeks in a row.  But when it fits the message, you go with it.

Prayer/Offertory

I Will Rise/Jesus Messiah (Yes, a medley!)- Chris Tomlin

Message: Dr. Barry Roberts

Altar:

This is the last Sunday that our main worship team is going to play until August.  The C-Team, (which is a misnomer) they just happen to be the last team put together, is taking over July.  The main team has been non-stop for the last 6 years just about every Sunday.  So the break is much needed.  We should come back with an intense focus and drive to see our God’s will be done in a mighty way.  We aren’t staying idle with music though.  July 7th we go to the studio to record. Pray for us.

See ya soon,

BRAD

Band:

Greetings to everyone!

Sorry we missed out of Sunday Setlists last week.  The praise team had the week off.  But we were back in full force today at Evangelistic Temple in Palestine, TX.  There was an amazing message given by our senior high youth pastor, Jason Harris.  It was a hard but good.  Anyone else have someone tell it like it is in church?

Alright, to the setlist:

Walk In: Hosanna – Paul Baloche (We did the PK7 version)

Jesus Messiah – Chris Tomlin

Sweetly Broken – Jeremy Riddle

This is a new one for us.  The C-team got to be the ones that debuted this last week to our congregation.  I heard that they did a great job.  Way to go C-team.  We love this song.  In fact it’s still in my head even as I type this.

Prayer/Offertory

Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone) – Chris Tomlin

Hallelujah – Ben Cantalon

This one has really been anthemic recently.  Today, lots of people came forward as it began, just to stand in the front of the platform with their hands in the air.  I had to play the guitar, otherwise my hands would have been in the air too.

Message: Jason Harris

Altar/Communion

The Wonderful Cross – Michael W. Smith

There you have it.  Thanks for stopping by.  As always, you can go to www.fredmckinnon.com and check out what other worship pastors and churches did for their Sunday Setlist too.

Band

Cavin Dorsey – Bass/Musical Director

Jason Stringfield – drums

Danna Hafner – Keys/bgvls

Lift High – Fee

Prayer Offertory

Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone) – Tomlin

Grace Will Be My Song – Fee

Message: Dr. Barry Roberts “Take out the trash!” Part 4 of “Marriage Madness”

Altar:  Through  It All – Rueben, Morgan

Let My Heart Be Holy Ground –  John Moser

Closing: Though It All

It was a really great time  in the Lord today.  An awesome testimony was given that demonstrated what freedom feels like after the chains life ties you down with are broken.  Just inspiring!  You will be able to listen to the sermon at www.etpalestine.com before the week is over.  I want to encourage you to check it out.

Both of our acoustic guitar players were not able to make the services today.  Terry, specifically, had knee surgery on Friday and is unable to stand for long periods of time.  Please pray for him.  So the worship team, as far as musicians go, was  all Passage North.  I got to cover both electric and acoustic parts at the same time. This is why I have an electric guitar that will do that sort of thing.

By the way, you can see what other worship leaders did in their church today over at Fred’s site. www.fredmckinnon.com

By the way, please pray for both of our acoustic guitar players.  Johnie injured his hand in a bicycle accident – hit a 50 pound pit bull going 25 mph (the bike, not the dog.  I don’t know how fast the dog was going…knowing pit bulls, it was headed straight for him as fast as it could go.  Not the kind of game of “chicken” you really want to play on a bike).  Terry was camping this week, but he is due to have knee surgery soon.

O Praise Him – David Crowder

Lift High – Steve Fee

Prayer/Offertory

I Will Rise/Jesus Messiah (Medley) – Chris Tomlin

This is the first week that we tried I Will Rise.  The flow for that song straight into Jesus Messiah is seamless.  It’s like they were made to go together.  This big part of it was the congregation loved the surprise into the second song.  After the bridge of I Will Rise we went into the chorus of I Will Rise then into the chorus of Jesus Messiah. We did not play the verses of Jesus Messiah.  IT WAS OFF THE CHAIN!!!

Message:  Dr. Barry Roberts

Altar:

Offering – Paul Baloche

I Will Rise (Reprise)

There were some people laying on the floor crying out to God, altars at our church are always open, so people were down there too.  Just a wonderful day to serve a wonderful God.

Leave me a comment if you wish.  I wish you would!

Keep the Son in your eyes,

BRAD
